Become part of Hawaii’s conservation story

We hope you can join us this Saturday as we put our hands to the ‘āina to mālama ‘Aimakapā.

Work at ‘Aimakapā Fishpond will begin at 8 AM and last until just before lunch.  Please bring any food or snacks you may need to sustain you during the day.  Plenty of cold water will be provided.

Please meet us at the Visitor Center at 8 AM for introductions and a safety briefing.

For this workday, we plan to get in the pond and remove chunks of invasive grass.  Be prepared to get very very muddy!  For those who may not want to get in the pond, there are plenty of weeds to be removed from the dryland areas surrounding the south shore of the fishpond.

Close-toed shoes are required for work at the fishpond.  If you have tabis please bring them.  Also, sturdy thorn proof shoes are recommended as we may be working in and around kiawe thorns.  A hat, sunscreen, long sleeve shirt and long pants are recommended.  Water, tools, and gloves will be provided.

Please RSVP to jackson_letchworth@nps.gov if you plan to attend.  Mahalo!
