Join the Wheels for Wildlife Ground Transportation Team
The Hawai’i Wildlife Center (HWC) is a is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with the mission of protecting, conserving, and aiding in the recovery of Hawai’i’s native wildlife through hands-on treatment, research, training, science education and cultural programs
Currently, the HWC is seeking volunteers interested in assisting with wildlife rescue missions by joining our volunteer ground transport team on O’ahu, Hawaiʻi, & Maui Nui.
When the HWC receives a call about a sick or injured native bird or bat, they put the call out to the rescue team to see who is available to transport the animal to a certified wildlife rehabilitator or to the airport.
Whether a volunteer accepts a mission is dependent on their location and availability – The bird will already be prepped for transport upon pickup and the HWC will take care of all the State and Federal paperwork. After each mission, the volunteer receives a rescue certificate acknowledging their contribution
Gain training by a certified wildlife rehabilitator, valuable wildlife handling experience, and exposure to various conservation professionals
