Provides professional assistance to the Division of Forestry and Wildlife to facilitate the completion of an island-wide Habitat Conservation Plan (HCP) addressing the take of the endangered Nene or Hawaiian Goose on Kauai by: (1) coordinating draft HCP development and overall document organization; (2) assisting in overseeing completion of National Environmental Policy Act/Hawai‘i Environmental Policy Act (NEPA/HEPA) compliance documents for the HCP; (3) facilitating and managing stakeholder/public meetings and tracking outcomes; (4) identifying constraints to meeting deadlines and providing workable solutions; (5) assisting in planning landscape scale conservation actions for Nene protection; (6) working closely with DOFAW, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and private landowners on Kauai; (7) communicating regularly with Federal and State agencies; and (8) preparing correspondence and reports.
