Tour Manager

The mission of the National Tropical Botanical Garden is to enrich life by perpetuating tropical plants, ecosystems, and cultural heritage.

The National Tropical Botanical Garden is now accepting applications for a Full Time Tour Manager. This position directs and administers the operations of the South Shore Visitor Program, focusing primarily on the Tour Program. The Tour Program Manager will work to deliver top quality educational programs, visitor activities and displays that will help to instill the garden’s mission of education, research and conservation in our visitors.  This position will work closely with the Director to ensure quality tours and experiences are provided to our guests as well as financial projections and revenue are on track as budgeted.

Responsibilities include the following.  

• Management and promotion of tour operations and companion programming.

• Manage, train and develop the tour program staff, including: scheduling, onboarding, ongoing training and development, safety, regulatory compliance (including FMSCA/DOT) & discipline.

• Coordinate efforts to market and advertise the Visitor Program.

• Provide interpretation of the garden, its features and programs; and train staff on interpretation and interpretive materials.

• Works closely with retail staff on tour support processes.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 3 years experience in a progressively more responsible capacity managing a complex business unit or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

• Experience working in either Education, Visitor Industry, or Nonprofit sector is a plus.

• A valid Driver’s License required for employment.  A Commercial Drivers License with Passenger Endorsement preferred and must be obtained within a probationary period.

• Excellent PC skills including Google products.

• Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing with diverse audiences.

• Demonstrated ability to work efficiently and thoughtfully on multiple tasks concurrently.

Well qualified candidates with demonstrated ability to manage retail operations will be considered for promotion to Visitor Program Manager role after probationary period.. 

Schedule: Varied

Pay Range: 60k-67k/ yr. DOE        Deadline to apply for this position:  Open until filled
