H. T. Harvey & Associates (HTH) is a premier ecological consulting firm based in Northern and Central California with offices in Los Gatos, Fresno, San Luis Obispo, Sacramento, and Arcata. Although based in California, HTH has completed projects and conducted ecological research throughout western North America, Hawai‘i and throughout the eastern Pacific Ocean and intends to open an office in Hawai‘i. For over 40 years, HTH has created ecologically sound solutions to our clients’ complex natural resource challenges. We have an immediate opening for an experienced project manager / senior ecologist to help us open our Hawai‘i office. The work may be varied, but currently includes a focus on assisting clients with aspects of renewable energy development issues (wind, solar and marine hydrokinetic). The ideal candidate would have a clear understanding of consulting applications of environmental regulations and processes such as HEPA/NEPA; FESA including HCP development and implementation; and permitting with DLNR, USACE, etc. Depending upon the skillset of the applicant and workload, duties may include supervising, and in some cases conducting, endangered species or rare plant studies; insect, bird, bat, and fish studies; offshore studies for marine hydrokinetic and offshore wind projects, mitigation and natural resource management plans; land management and conservation planning; basic ecological research, and supervision of others in the preparation of technical reports. Other key responsibilities would include assisting with business development, marketing, proposal preparation, and office management. Applicants with advanced degrees in ecology, law, or planning (with solid ecological experience) are preferred. Minimum of 5 years of applicable experience in Hawai‘i is a must and demonstrable technical writing ability and good communication skills are essential. H. T.
