Become part of Hawaii’s conservation story

Temporary Field Assistant Position
The Big Island Invasive Species Committee (BIISC) is hiring five temporary field positions on the island of Hawaii. You will work island-wide, outdoors every day, to search out and destroy invasive plants and pathogens that are working their way into our forests and farms—stopping them before it is too late. You’ll be part of a bigger team that includes just about every conservation and agricultural interest on the island, as well as our county, state, and federal agencies and political leaders. You’ll be trained to use a GPS, mix and use herbicide safely, identify common native and invasive plants, share information with the public at outreach events, and use a variety of tools, first aid and CPR. And of course, you’ll be wet, dirty, and have a real good time, doing good, for your island.
Opportunity for temporary position to convert to regular hire with benefits for the right candidates.
Requirements:
 High School Diploma but College Degree preferred
 Some work experience. Related work outdoors, including landscaping, paid or unpaid internship or volunteer experience, is preferred, but is not required.
