Part-time Native Plant Restoration Assistant with Kupu Aina Corps

August 29, 2022 – June 3, 2023

Twenty hours per week (3 days)  

$14 per hour, plus benefits, including health insurance

Job description:

The Kupu Aina Corps Individual Placement (IP) role is an intensive entry-level opportunity for individuals interested in exploring environmental and agricultural careers through hands-on experience.

The position at Kalahaku Farm is to assist with native plant restoration efforts, including:

  • Eradicate invasive species (herbaceous weed control and brush management) on slopes, stream banks, and in ponds
  • Assist with trail making and trail maintenance
  • Plant and maintain native groundcovers, trees, shrubs, and vegetative barriers as well as fruit trees and ornamentals
  • Use organic pest control products and methods
  • Fertilize trees, shrubs, groundcovers, and vegetative barriers
  • Propagate plants
  • Prune shrubs and trees as needed 
  • Weed whack adjacent areas, trails, etc.
  • Assist with miscellaneous farm tasks

Other requirements for successful applicant

Preference for applicants who have knowledge of and experience with Native Hawaiian plants
