Overview

The SOS program was initiated in 1979 by DLNR/DOFAW in response to the "light attraction" suffered by fledgling seabirds as they leave their colonies and fly out to sea. Funded by KIUC since 2004 and based at KHS since 2008, SOS provides year-round rehabilitation for the native birds of Kauai.
